Why do we allow
the mongers to peddle us
fear in these wholesale job lots?
~
We’ve forgotten how
to laugh them out of business.
Let’s begin right now.
Why do we allow
the mongers to peddle us
fear in these wholesale job lots?
~
We’ve forgotten how
to laugh them out of business.
Let’s begin right now.
When fear takes over
what becomes of honor? Where
do mind and heart go?
~
Fear freezes the heart,
enshrouds the mind in mist, and
honor takes a nap.
Please, can we not stand
together and united
against rampant injustice?
~
Perhaps we’ll listen
to ourselves pledge liberty
and justice for all.
From ridiculous
to sublime, I was looking
for something along these lines:
As it was in the
beginning, is now, and will
always be – completely (w)hole.
When cows jump over
moons, what possibly remains
for humans to do?
~
Corporatists might say,
“Strip mine the moons, eat some steaks!”
Or did I get that backwards?
Acting in haste or
paralytic inaction.
Which course yields greater damage?
~
When faced with questions
like this the best course is to
stare and back slowly away.
When our hands are tied,
what can we do to untie
all the knots inside?
~
The knots grow tighter
when bathed in attention.
Ignore those thorny knots. ACT!
Has not your heart’s path
tugged you to some places
your mind would deny?
~
My mind has often
played second fiddle in heart’s
long, meandering parade.
Seeker, why do you
insist on looking for what
can never be found?
~
That which is sought may
never be found, but along
the way, there will be wonders!
Eat me or drink me
or step through the looking glass.
Is the unknown all we seek?
~
If we sought the known
where would the adventure be
and what would be the reward?
When pushed beyond their
limits, is there another
place the wise ones go?
~
Like Lewis Carroll,
some go down the rabbit hole.
Others soar like eagles!
What compulsion drives
us to act against our will?
Altruism? Karmic Debt?
~
Sometimes we draw strength
from a mysterious source
and set our will aside.
Are we lost when we
think we’re found or is it the
other way around?
~
Again, are we stuck
thinking of destinations
not focused on the path?
What expectation
seems best for, thinks this wise fool,
ulcers and flagellation!
~
So we’re skipping all
questions now and going straight
to declarations?
What can we expect
from the unexpected and
how do we prepare?
~
Prepare for the worst!
Maybe the unexpected
will be a pleasant surprise!
AND ANYWAY, what
is so great about wisdom?
It keeps no demons at bay.
~
Demons come and they
go and those on wisdom’s seat
simply watch the show.
What do children and
fools have to offer that wise
men struggle to grasp?
~
Being a child
And a foolish man some call
Wise, I have no quick reply.
On a star-less night,
with no moon and no flash light,
what can guide my way?
~
You might take this as
a sign to stay inside and
write some silly rhymes.
Are crickets chirping
On balmy summer evenings
Perhaps the sound you’re longing?
~
Surely not hollow
Echo resounding off the
Walls of vacant, empty halls!
Since Heat Death holds no
Hearty appeal, what must we
Do to stoke our passions’ blaze?
~
Perhaps giving thanks
will reignite the fire
or provide the fuel.
With no fire in
my belly and no wood to
be found, what then, Friend?
~
When all passions fade,
Logs consumed, all that remains
Is Universal heat death.
Has anybody
Asked about a down side
To the existence of God?
~
Through the ages those
who want more control always
seek out the down side.
When Jesus, Buddha,
and Mohammad find common
ground, will we stand there?
~
“Can we stand there too?”
may be the question to ask.
Or, could we stand to BE there?
And in that quest for
Ephemeral potency,
What all must they sacrifice?
~
What they don’t see is
the “all” they must sacrifice
includes their own selves.
What lets folks claim for
themselves what they’re unwilling
to allow others?
~
Those poor souls, without
any real power, yearn to
seize it however they can.
For the small minded,
is their terror justified,
since truth is so relative?
~
Perfect love, they say,
can cast out fear when minds
are small, truth unclear.
If there are many
answers to the big questions,
can they all be right?
~
A wise Jedi once
told me, “Everything is true,
from a certain point of view!”
Why are life’s pleasures
So much easier to seek
Than the prices are to pay?
~
Seeking is sometimes
much easier than paying
the price for what’s sought.
When winter winds blow
and we’re still far from home, What
must we do to tend the flame?
~
Cherish the warming
of remembered smiles’ glow
and smokey hearth’s aroma.
If wise Divine knew
The mettle of his stewards,
What might be his good plan B?
~
It’s been said that His
stewards need to stop stewing
and open their hearts to be.
Now that the battle’s
almost won, does anyone
know what the fight was about?
~
Do soldiers ever
question why the bullets fly
once the battle is joined?
