Does it presage promise of
toil or tranquility?

Wouldn’t it be great,
if toil it is, we could
do so with tranquility?
When is betrayal
really self-preservation
hidden in awful disguise?

Ah, and there’s the rub.
Faced with such a question, one
seeks the safety of context.
Was it just ego,
or was it something greater
Driving the August Caesar?

Be it August or
be it September, ego
drives all our Caesars.
When in the course of
Human events,misanthropes
Grow grim, and do what?

What they don’t do is
pledge their Lives,Fortunes,and their
sacred Honor to each other.

Sometimes we poets
enter a wordless realm where
effort and forethought don’t dwell.
If technology
joined forces with wisdom, what
manner of world might there be?

A world alien
to egoist upright primates
who’ve learned to ape wisdom?
How do we begin
to transform the grapes of wrath
into communion wine?
~
Strip first, the bitter
skin of anger and vengeance,
then ferment the heart and soul.
When every which way
we look, we can only see
dark dead-ends, what then?
~
Then, perhaps, the time
is ripe, to cast a little
light into those dark corners.
Even when we know
a stitch in time saves nine, we
still procrastinate, but why?

It’s just a habit
for some. But for others
it’s practice postponing death.
How does one achieve
balance in an unbalanced
world spinning out of control?
~
If many people
join hands and spin together,
balance can be restored.
What wisdom are you
bringing back with you now that
you’ve been to the wild west?

This place has taught me
that, despite hardships untold,
life will always find a way!

Walk in this canyon
and wonder. What legacy
will we leave for those to come?

To escape, walk, don’t run,
to a quiet place, open
a print book and read.

to when little dogs laugh and
forks run off with spoons?

When statesmanship gives way to
Wish fulfillment fantasy.
When embarking on
a spiritual journey,
what must one be sure to pack?

Spiritual journeys
are more about unpacking
and traveling light.
So tell me, my fine
son, how can we still shine when
our light has grown dim ?

Are we, not this crude matter.”
Our glow, inexhaustible.
But what’s a writer
to do when the ink dries up
yet the deluge continues?

keys can compensate with ease
and hold the flooding writer.
