When we stand our ground

and insist upon our rights,

must we fear how we’re perceived?

Possibly we can

find a way to do so that

doesn’t create fear.

How to shine a light

so bright that the willfully

blind at last can see?

I fear that, in truth,

any light, sufficiently

bright, would do more harm than good.

How best to travel

when the way is dark and we

have lost both our will and our way?

Wallowing blindly,

enduring the tract less void

may be part of the journey.
