Now that July is
finally saying goodbye,
what would be a good send-off?

Whatever we try,
it will be with a dry eye,
giving July the brush-off.

Why do cherries weep,
floral tears of softest pink,
in this joyous time of year?

Perhaps we mistake
joy for sadness as they bend
to kiss the warming earth.
