I was doing my
mindful meditation when
I recalled what I forgot.
~
Recalling the lost
seems to defeat the point of
meditating mindlessly.

Recalling the lost
seems to defeat the point of

All analysis
entirely depends on
the quality of data.
~
Not entirely.
The integrity and skill
of the analyzer counts.
Extending a paw,
Murphy invites me to join
her in a moment of purrs.
~
That serene moment,
punctuated by purring,
represents pure inner peace.
Just my opinion…
Any god that’s worth his salt
can’t be a one trick pony.
~
I don’t think it’s God
that has only one trick. I think
it’s God made in our image.
The bare bones of truth
remain after all the lies
and denials rot away.
~
And as time goes by
those old ossified remains
keep getting re-elected!
I remember when
I thought thirty-six was OLD
doubting I would live that long!
~
And yet here you are
teetering on the brink of
sixty , my young son.
Those who come late to
the bird feeder avoid fuss,
but still eat plenty.
~
Early arrivals
get to choose the choicest nuts
while laggards peck at millet.
What if our leaders
focused more on needs at hand
than on history’s legacies?
~
Making history
by addressing present needs?
How revolutionary!
One more discussion
that goes nowhere because hearts
and minds are closed tight.
~
History demonstrates
that tightly closed hearts and minds
are pre-conditions for war
History often paints
the most beautiful portraits
of despicable people.
~
Whoever is in
power decides who and how
to paint the chosen portraits.
Justifying words
can defy and conceal truths
that the heart knowingly holds.
~
A deceitful heart
loves obfuscatory words…
Anything to hide behind.
Life is a highway
and I want to ride it, all
unto death embrace.
~
We’ll ride life’s highway
together until I leave
for a rest stop in the sky.
Election Day – We
honor our democracy
when we cast our vote.
~
Corporate “people”
cast about vast stacks of cash;
selfishness outweighs honor.
In the dark of night,
in these chill depths of autumn,
vixens scream their wanton cries.
–
With the rising sun
comes lilting sounds of waking
birds to warm the chill of night.
Recalibrating
the sun is not an option,
so we just reset our clocks.
~
Human nature makes
changing clocks much easier
than just rising with the sun.
A pair of drumsticks;
pale commemoration for
so bright a music lover.
~
Finding symbols to
commemorate anyone’s
life is not easy.
What we see depends
on the angle we look from,
but it’s just a partial view.
~
By stereopsis
and parallax displacement,
we can see the world with depth.
This month’s early freeze,
perhaps a snowy winter;
compliments of El Niño!
~
The world could use some
cooling off after heated
battles leave us scorched.
I swear inscribed on
that passing funeral car were
the words “Lucky Stiff”.
~
All things considered,
given the state of the world,
an argument could be made…
Freaks come out at night,
even more on Halloween.
Forgot Hallow meant Holy.
~
Freaks in Congress hold
forth most days and fail to see
themselves as quite unholy.
Cold is forecast, but
for now we can bask in this
unexpected warm weather.
~
Cut the grass today
probably for the last time
until springtime warmth arrives.
Early colors glow
scarlet, yellow, and auburn
on one, among green Myrtles.
~
Right now trees and ground
display colorful arrays
all against a green background.
Willful ignorance
and the denial of facts
weakens our democracy.
~
“It’s a Republic”;
or so the ignorant screech,
when facts belie their belief.
Color me Jaded.
Nothing other people do
can surprise me anymore.
~
Kindnesses, both large
and small, can ease our jaded
souls. lift us up, bring some joy.
When the new speaker.
“ordained by God”, supported
election lies. did God wink?
~
God looked down, dismayed
by all that’s done in his name,
shaking his head, facepalming.
It’s a wondrous time,
this time in which we’re living!
It’s a wonder we still live…
~
And we can’t help but
wonder why we’ve been blessed when
others more worthy have not
When the contest
is us versus reality,
guess who the winner will be.
~
There is no power,
known among mere mortal men,
greater than self deception.
When the foot comes down,
does the chaos diminish
or do the eyes start rolling?
~
It all depends on
whose foot comes down and who will
be footing the bill.
The slightest shimmer
of swaying trees awakens
the shimmering parts of me.
~
Shimmers of sunlight
and other scintillations
illuminate our spirits.
Why do all these souls
manufacture differences
just to feel like they belong?
~
The belonging we
want can’t be manufactured.
It is simply felt.
