Shrill Feathered Shills

Chirping colors, blue,

yellow, black, white, gray, and red

announce their need to be fed.

~

Their protestations

prompt you to put out more seed

for the bears to eat with greed.

Wisdom, Wherefore Art Thou?

True wisdom is found,

not in seeing what is there,

but from kenning the absence.

~

Wisdom is found in

silence, but noise, both inner

and outer complicates things.

Stillness In Motion

The house is alive

with the sound of grandkids. If

I want stillness, I must walk.

~

Somebody must walk,

that’s true, but it’s up to you

to decide who hits the bricks.

Heavenly Descent

Sometimes lofty clouds

fall from their high place to rest

gently on the solid ground.

~

With such descent comes

a softening of earth’s rough

edges and sometimes our own.

~

Chopin’s Funeral March

Let’s put our half-baked

ideas in poetic

form. Maybe they’ll seem profound.

~

Since the earth b-flat,

let’s just drive our trucks right off

and conquer the universe.

Unlikely Events

Just a friendly hint –

tomorrow is Mother’s Day,

wink, wink…thought I’d let you know.

~

For once, reminders,

though welcomed, aren’t required.

Could it be I’m growing up?

It’s All In The Cards

When the cards are stacked

against us, may we find strength

enough to try anyway.

~

Sometimes that stacked deck

should serve as a loud warning

that this path is not the way.
